Los Alamitos NJB

Welcome to our 2019-2020 basketball season!  We are excited to share our 35th year of serving our community through basketball with you.

1) We have been around for over 30 years and have a proven track record of providing the community with a competitive basketball league.

2) We have a draft for grades 3-8. This ensures competitive balance. Most of our games are very competitive. Blowouts are rare.

3) 1st-6th grade plays their games at Los Alamitos High School; a top-notch facility that makes kids feel like they are playing in a high school game. 

4) Kindergarten, 7th-8th grade and our Girls division play primarily at Oak Middle School, which is centrally located and has ample parking. 

5) Our referees are provided by NJB and they are highly certified. Many actually referee high school games as well.

6) We play only on Sundays which means that you have your Friday and Saturdays free.

7) Each team consists of players from all talent/experience levels. 

8) Our league is growing due to word of mouth and positive feedback. We increased the number of players from 360-465 last year.

10) We have a thriving Girls program which is growing rapidly. For girls, you can form your own team if you'd like. 

11) Taking a cue from FNL, we are starting a Kindergarten League this year. You can form your own team for that if you'd like. Games will be played on Sunday mornings at Oak.

Los Alamitos - Seal Beach NJB is open to all boys and girls in grades K thru 8th. 

We play under the rules of National Junior Basketball.  For more information about the NJB National Organization, please visit their website at www.NJBL.org. 

We form teams with all players attending a "Player Evaluation" session and then Head Coaches attend a full player draft.....therefore No "play with requests" or Co-Coaching requests are accepted** 

Head Coaches are selected and approved by the Chapter Director and Division Commissioners based on previous experience and/or desire to lead a group of youth athletes in a positive manner.   Previous behavior issues are taken into consideration when determining who will have the privilege of coaching in Los Alamitos-Seal Beach NJB.  We have a very high standard for head coaches and have a zero tolerance for behavior issues.  All Head Coaches have had a background check, been fingerprinted and attend an annual coaches clinic.  Chapter Director will have final say on Head Coaches.

Most games are played on Sundays at local gyms (Lahs, Oak, McGaugh) between 7:30 AM and 8:30 PM - Due to the size of the league, additional venues and days of week may be added.
